Taster session

Our land-based Taster Session is the safest and funnest way to experience kites. You'll get to give kite flying a rip using a small foil kite, learning basic kite handling skills without the danger of landing face down in the dirt when a gust hits. By the end of it you'll be able to launch, fly powered and land your kite in safety.

Conditions allowing, you'll also get to have a go on a larger kite and experience a bit of the pulling power that these kites are capable of. By the end of this course you'll be ready to take on your first water-based lesson. The taster session takes one and a half hours. Group events require a minimum of 4 people.

$75 per person - 1 to 2 participants
$60 per person - 3 to 4 participants
$20/person - Group events in combination with another BlownAway activity

Riding Lessons

Here you'll learn all about the setup of a kite and the use of the 3-stage safety systems now found on all kites. We will take you to shallow water, where you will learn all basic riding skills such as kite launching, flying and landing procedures, practical kite safety exersizes, water relaunching and body dragging.
To ensure that you progress quickly and safely through this critical stage in learning, most of our lessons are run one-on-one. They will be tailored to your needs, with our qualified instructors going at your pace, taking you from complete novice to competent kiter. On average this will take about 4 to 10 hours, which is spread over several days.

$85/hour - One-on-One lesson
$60/hour per person - Two-on-One lesson (learning with your buddy)

To ensure that you get the best possible tuition, lessons will not exceed two participants.
